ERC Starting Grant for Michael Saliba

Jülich/Stuttgart, 10 January 2022 – Perovskites are the rising stars of semiconductor technology and a promising raw material for solar cells, light-emitting diodes, and detectors in the field of medical technology. Thin perovskite films in particular can be produced from a solution. However, film growth is very difficult to control using current crystallization methods. Prof. Michael Saliba from the University of Stuttgart’s Institute for Photovoltaics (ipv), who is also head of the FRONTRUNNER Helmholtz Young Investigators Group at IEK-5, aims to control such growth with the aid of light. For this project, he has received an ERC Starting Grant from the European Research Council (ERC) complete with € 1.5 million in funding. ERC Starting Grants are designed to support outstanding researchers in the early phase of their careers as they pursue innovative basic research projects.
