Funding Worth Millions for BioökonomieREVIER

Jülich, 31 March 2022 – The BioökonomieREVIER initiative has entered the next phase. The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) will provide funding worth € 38.5 million over the next five years for the structural change initiative initiated by Forschungszentrum Jülich. The initiative is part of the model region for sustainable bioeconomy in the Rhineland, to which BMBF has granted a total of around € 72 million in funding. With more than 70 projects, the aim is to help transform the Rhineland into a “region full of opportunities for realizing climate neutrality and sustainable value creation”, as Federal Research Minister Bettina Stark-Watzinger put it. Funding has also been granted to “Bio4MatPro – Competence Center for Biological Transformation of Materials Science and Production Engineering” and “Bioökonomie Verstehen.Verbinden.Unterstützen”, a project focusing on understanding, integrating, and supporting the bioeconomy.
