Brief description of the programme
Part of the EU Framework Program for Research and Innovation “Horizon Europe” (2021-2027), the European Research Council (ERC) funds groundbreaking research projects. The sole evaluation criterion is ‘excellence’ – both of the scientific proposal and of the applicant. Starting Grants are aimed at researchers 2-7 years after their Ph.D., who want to start their own independent career and build up their group.
Projects can be funded with up to 1.5 Mio. € for 5 years. The ERC Starting Grant is open to all fields of research (bottom-up) and is open to researchers of all nationalities, as long as they have a host institution in Germany (or another EU member state/associated country). Grants are advertised once a year.
Please note: The dates of calls might change throughout the year. When you save them to your calendar, your calendar will not show the changed dates. Please check the Funding Calendar regularly for the latest information.
