Equal Opportunities

Diversity and inclusion

The diversity of our employees is a decisive factor for success and an invaluable resource for the excellent research at Forschungszentrum Jülich. It enables innovation, creativity, and the integration of many perspectives on the same topic – be that scientifically, technically, administratively, or strategically. Forschungszentrum Jülich therefore promotes an open and inclusive corporate culture, which gives all employees the opportunity to develop to their full potential.

Joint guidelines on equal opportunities

Forschungszentrum Jülich, the University of Cologne, RWTH Aachen University, TH Köln, and the German Aerospace Center (DLR) are united by a close partnership in research, education, and science management. Together we actively aim to improve diversity, the available perspectives, and equal opportunities at these institutions.

Our joint guidelines on equal opportunities create the framework conditions to ensure that the institutions involved are open to everyone, irrespective of their personal circumstances or social background. The aim is to promote an organizational culture in which individual, social, and cultural diversity is viewed as an asset and a sign of quality.

Further information can be found in the Helmholtz Guideline Diversity and Inclusion.

LGBTIQ+ & Friends network

Creating a discrimination-free working environment is a top priority of Forschungszentrum Jülich. We therefore promote broad awareness of the diversity of gender identities and sexual orientations. A LGBTIQ+ & Friends network has been established at Forschungszentrum Jülich and welcomes any new members.

Active support for women in science and management positions

Forschungszentrum Jülich aims to encourage more women to get involved in science and is committed to providing career guidance that does not play up to gender stereotypes, particularly for young female students pursuing careers and courses of study in STEM subjects. What’s more, we create the necessary conditions to ensure our colleagues receive the best possible support, while also using measures and initiatives to offer all employees equal opportunities to pursue their desired career paths, regardless of their gender. Further information on Gender Mainstreaming can be be found here.

Reconciliation of work and family life

At Forschungszentrum Jülich, employees providing care (for family members) alongside their work can benefit from numerous measures to Reconcile Work and Family Life to the greatest possible extent.

Disabled employees

We also welcome job applications from candidates with disabilities. Our BfC representative for employees with disabilities and the representatives for persons with disabilities at Forschungszentrum Jülich provide comprehensive support. We are also well networked and work together with specialist regional bodies, such as local inclusion offices.
