Prof. Astrid Lambrecht has served as Chair of the Board of Directors of Forschungszentrum Jülich, a member of the Helmholtz Association, since 2023. She studied physics at the University of Essen (now Duisburg-Essen) and at Imperial College London. She earned her in quantum physics from the Université Pierre & Marie Curie (now Sorbonne University, Paris), where she also completed her habilitation in physics in 2002. 

From 2007 onwards, Lambrecht was a Research Professor at the French Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) at the Laboratoire Kastler Brossel in Paris. Between 2016 and 2018, she first served as Deputy Scientific Director at CNRS headquarters, and subsequently, until 2021, as Director of the Physics Division. From 2021 to 2023, she was a member of the Board of Directors of Forschungszentrum Jülich, where she was responsible for the Information sector. In 2023 she was appointed Chair of the Board. 

In addition, Lambrecht has been and continues to be active in numerous international scientific boards and committees.  Since 2025, she has been a member of the German Federal Chancellor's Strategy Group for Technology and Innovation, as well as a member of the Council for Information Infrastructures (RfII). Her major awards include the Aimé Cotton Prize of the French Physical Society (2005), the CNRS Silver Medal (2013), and the Gentner-Kastler Prize awarded jointly by the French and German Physical Societies (2016). In 2019, she was awarded the French National Order of the Legion of Honour, and in 2023 she received the CNRS Medal of Honor. Since 2024, she has been member of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina.
