At Forschungszentrum Jülich, laboratories, technology, and IT form the basis for excellent research. Working within our teams, you will transform ideas and concepts into unique devices, systems, and experiments. You will develop technical solutions, optimize systems, and ensure that data and infrastructure are reliably available. This way, you will help create the conditions for scientific breakthroughs.

We are always looking for committed colleagues who are curious, enjoy practical and technical work, and want to actively shape the infrastructure of cutting-edge research. Together, we will drive innovation and create the framework for pioneering research and technologies.

This is what work in the various areas of Forschungszentrum Jülich involves:

Laboratories

In our laboratories, ideas and concept studies are translated into concrete experiments. Whether in chemistry, physics, materials science, or life sciences – the laboratories are at the heart of our research. Here, you will operate state-of-the-art equipment, conduct measurements, and support scientists in carrying out their experiments. Your work ensures that research can be conducted reliably, accurately, and reproducibly.

Technology

The workshops and technical departments at Jülich transform concepts into functioning systems, devices, and prototypes. Mechanics, electronics, plant engineering, and specialized devices are planned, manufactured, and optimized here. Our technical departments and specialized institutes — such as the Institute of Technology and Engineering (ITE) — help create innovative technical solutions and ensure that research projects run smoothly.

  • Mechatronics technician / mechanic
  • Engineer (e.g. for industrial engineering/cleanroom technology / electrical engineering)
  • Technician (general and specialized)

IT

Our central IT department ensures that data, systems, and networks are reliably available. In addition, IT specialists at many institutes work closely with researchers to implement specific research requirements. They develop software solutions, operate supercomputing and storage systems, and support research groups with data analysis. Their work forms the digital basis for the complex experiments and calculations at the Research Centre.
