We are looking to recruit a
Postdoc - Surface structures of supported catalytically active liquid metal solutions (SCALMS)
Your Job:
- Development and characterization of supported catalytically active liquid metal solutions (SCALMS) (e.g. Ga84Pt)
- Investigation of SCALMS surface structures using surface sensitive X-ray methods (e.g. X-ray reflectivity, X-ray fluorescence)
- Design of cells and reactors for operando studies
- Coordination and execution of synchrotron beamtimes
- Collaboration with other groups, in particular at INW and at synchrotron facilities (DESY, ESRF, BNL)
- Extended visits to synchrotron facilities
- Participation in international conferences (including presenting your research results)
- Preparation of scientific publications and project reports
- Supervision of PhD students and other students
- Support in the preparation of third-party funding proposals
- Support in establishing the institute
Your Profile:
- Master`s degree in physics, chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, or related disciplines
- Extensive knowledge of X-ray methods
- Knowledge of X-ray reflectivity
- Experience with vacuum chambers
- Experience in energy storage
- Experience with programming languages (ideally Python)
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Very independent and self-motivated way of working but also excellent teamwork skills
- High motivation to take on responsibility and develop own research idea
- Willingness for regular business trips

We offer you an exciting and varied role in an international and interdisciplinary working environment. The position is for a fixed term of 2 years, with possible long-term prospects. Salary and social benefits will conform to the provisions of the Collective Agreement for the Public Service (TVöD-Bund), pay group EG 13, depending on the applicant’s qualifications and the precise nature of the tasks assigned to them.
