AiML places in the top three of the ZEBRA Accelerator – Neuromorphic chip design from Forschungszentrum Jülich impresses the jury
Jülich, 8 December 2025 – The Jülich spin-off project AiML, led by Dr. Vikas Rana and Dr. Tom Glint Issac from the Peter Grünberg Institute (PGI-7), successfully participated in the ZEBRA Accelerator program and secured third place among 15 selected founding teams. The award underscores the high innovation potential of the young spin-off project and marks an important milestone on its path to commercialization.
Successful appearance at the ZEBRA Accelerator

With a clear technological vision and a focus on efficient hardware solutions, AiML was able to stand out among the participating teams at ZEBRA Accelerator. The jury praised the team’s bold technological approach and its compelling market strategy.
Neuromorphic chip technology as a key innovation
AiML is developing an energy-efficient silicon processor designed for large language model (LLM) inference directly on edge devices. It addresses a long-standing challenge in machine learning: reducing compute bit-precision without compromising model accuracy. Its chip architecture leverages an innovative number system that significantly lowers compute and memory requirements while maintaining FP32-level model accuracy.
Delivering over 50× higher energy efficiency than conventional compute systems, the AiML chip supports the deployment of advanced AI functionality in sectors such as consumer electronics, industrial automation, and automotive applications.
ZEBRA Accelerator Jülich: Funding program for green high-tech startups
The ZEBRA Accelerator Jülich is a funding program for early-stage startups in the fields of sustainability, GreenTech, and impact-driven technologies. Based at the Startup Village Jülich in the Brainergy Park, the program combines a hybrid format with intensive support in business model development, market validation, pitch training, and investor readiness. Participants also benefit from a growing innovation ecosystem that fosters solutions addressing the challenges of the energy transition.
