Atmospheric Research a Topic in Brussels

Brussels/Jülich, 8 September 2011 – Atmospheric research at Forschungszentrum Jülich was a topic at an event today held in the Representation of the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia to the European Union in Brussels with NRW Science Minister Svenja Schulze. In a presentation entitled "Air Quality and Climate Change – Making Things Manageable for Future Generations", Prof. Martin Riese, director of the Jülich Institute of Climate and Energy Research, spoke about the need for studies on the chemistry and dynamics of the atmosphere for better climate simulations. Jülich atmospheric researcher Prof. Andreas Wahner presented the large-scale European research project "PEGASOS", in which 26 partners from 15 member states are investigating the relations between atmospheric chemistry and climate change.
