Round Trip to Southern Europe
HALO is on its last two flights as part of the TACTS mission
Jülich, 25 September – The research aircraft HALO started today on its last two flights for the TACTS mission. With three measuring instruments from Jülich on board, on Tuesday the plane departs Oberpfaffenhofen for southern Portugal via Amsterdam and Paris and back, and on Wednesday leaves Oberpfaffenhofen for northern Europe. The instruments record, among other data, the occurrence and distribution of important greenhouse gases such as ozone, carbon dioxide and water vapour in the atmosphere, especially in the boundary area of the upper troposphere and the overlying lower stratosphere (UTLS).
