Jülich, 21 November 2013 – On Wednesday, Prof. Dieter Willbold and Jun.-Prof. Birgit Strodel offered their audience in-depth insights into the microcosm of proteins. During their keynote lecture at the end-of-year ceremony in the Rhineland Regional Museum (LVR-LandesMuseum) in Bonn, the two researchers revealed to around 300 guests from politics, science, and industry as well as colleagues from Forschungszentrum Jülich how protein molecules function like tiny machines in our body’s cells. Using spectacular images and animations, they also demonstrated the consequences arising from damage to these ‘molecular engines’.
