Suitable Regions for Biotechnological Applications Found in Bacterium

20 May 2019 – Researchers from Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf and Forschungszentrum Jülich have discovered sites in the genome of the bacterium Pseudomonas putida that are particularly well suited for a high and stable expression of biosynthetic genes. They identified specific regions in the genome that are linked to RNA metabolism. These regions are particularly suited for activating biosynthetic pathways, through which valuable natural substances such as antibiotics are produced in the bacterium. The findings were published in the journal Scientific Reports.
