Little Scientists’ Day
Jülich, 28 May 2019 – A grain of sand is tiny, yet we can still feel it – why is that? And a single pixel is a barely noticeable dot – but many pixels together form a detailed image. “Klein, aber oho!” (small but mighty) was therefore the theme of this year’s Little Scientists’ Day (“Tag der kleinen Forscher”). Across Germany, children sought to find answers to these and many other questions, venturing on journeys of discovery.
To mark the occasion, Thomas Rachel MdB, Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Education and Research, visited the “Kleine Füchse” childcare centre at Forschungszentrum Jülich on Tuesday, accompanying the children along their journeys. In the district of Düren, Rachel is patron of the non-profit “Haus der kleinen Forscher” Foundation, which supports good early education in the subjects of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and which launched Little Scientists’ Day in 2008.
