Chinese Delegation Visits Fusion Research Facilities

Long-standing cooperation with Forschungszentrum Jülich

3 June 2019 – A delegation from the government of the Chinese province of Anhui, headed by Vice-Governor Xiangyang Deng, visited Forschungszentrum Jülich on Monday to learn more about Jülich fusion research and German–Chinese cooperation in the field of materials research for the first wall in fusion plants.

For many years, Forschungszentrum Jülich has cooperated with the Institute of Plasma Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (ASIPP) in the fields of plasma–wall interaction, plasma boundary layer physics, and wall materials. The institute, China’s leading fusion research establishment, is located in Hefei, the capital of the province of Anhui. One joint new research field concerns work for first-wall materials for the China Fusion Engineering Test Reactor (CFETR) that is currently being planned and prepared in China. Two ASIPP scientists accompanied the delegation.
