Cell Growth: Interlinked Network of Potential New Regulatory Mechanisms Decoded

Jülich/Düsseldorf, 10 January 2020 – The question of whether a cell grows, divides, or dies is decided by several factors that include receptors, to which neurotransmitters bind from the outside. One research team from Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf (HHU) and from Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZJ), together with partners from the University of Bonn, studied the important EGFR more closely. This allowed an interface that has never before been well understood to be characterized in more detail. The researchers, led by Dr. Manuel Etzkorn (HHU/FZJ) and Prof. Dr. Michael Famulok (Bonn), describe how this interface works and what substances interact with it in the cover story for the journal Structure from Cell Press.
