Israeli Minister Visits Forschungszentrum Jülich
Jülich, 29 June 2011 – Israeli Minister of Science and Technology Prof. Daniel Hershkowitz visited Jülich today. The Minister was welcomed by Chairman of the Board of Directors Prof. Achim Bachem. Prof. Herschkowitz and the Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Science and Technology Menachem Greenblum then went on to visit the Jülich Supercomputing Centre (JSC), which among other things operates the fastest computer in Germany – JUGENE. Following this, the Israeli delegation learnt about current projects in plant research at Jülich from Prof. Ulrich Schurr at the Institute of Bio- and Geosciences (IBG). The ministerial visit took place as part of the 1st German-Israeli Forum on research cooperation, which was organized by Federal Minister of Education Prof. Annette Schavan together with her Israeli colleague Prof. Daniel Hershkowitz from 27 to 29 June in Aachen.
