Funding approved for new virtual institute for topological insulators

Jülich, 29 June 2012 – A new virtual institute coordinated by Forschungszentrum Jülich will start work in July. At the Virtual Institute for Topological Insulators (VITI), scientists will investigate novel materials with great potential for applications in information technologies. In addition to Jülich, the other partners are RWTH Aachen University and the University of Würzburg as well as the Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology. The Helmholtz Association is funding the project with € 600,000 per year for three to five years and the partners are contributing € 300,000 per year.
