Jülich, 26 August 2016 – Experts from Jülich’s Nuclear Physics Institute have developed a new power supply concept for the COSY particle accelerator. The active filter they have developed makes the power supply for the dipole magnets more efficient, precise, and less error-prone. The new technology is important not only to Jülich’s accelerator physics, but also for all fields where large amounts of energy are transported as direct current, for example offshore wind parks.
