What is presented?

We often think our solar system ends with Neptune, but thousands of sub-planetary bodies orbit the Sun in the cold outer regions of our solar system. These trans-Neptunian objects (TNOs) provide essential clues to understanding the formation of the solar system. Unlike the planets, these TNOs orbit the Sun mostly on inclined, eccentric orbits. We will see that the flyby of another star shortly after the formation of the solar system can quantitatively explain the dynamics of TNOs.

The lecture will be held in German.
