Alzheimer’s Research: Publication in Chemical Science
Düsseldorf/Jülich, 27 June 2018 – Many neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease are caused by the agglomeration of certain protein molecules. Researchers at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf (HHU) and Forschungszentrum Jülich together with colleagues from the USA have now discovered that particularly toxic small aggregates, known as oligomers, protect against their own degradation and thus have a longer toxic effect. They have published their results in the peer-reviewed journal Chemical Science.
