Gerhard Ertl Young Investigator Award 2023

For the Gerhard Ertl Young Investigator Award 2023, the five top candidates qualifying for the final round of selection were:

Felix Lüpke (Peter Grünberg Institut (PGI-3), Forschungszentrum Jülich, Germany and Jülich Aachen Research Alliance (JARA), Fundamentals of Future Information Technology, Germany)
Michele Reticcioli (University of Vienna, Austria)
Anna Rosławska (Université de Strasbourg, CNRS, IPCMS, France)
Qigang Zhong (Institute of Applied Physics, Justus Liebig University Giessen (JLU), Germany and Center for Materials Research, JLU, Germany)
These candidates were asked to give 30-minute (25 min. talk and 5 min. discussion) oral presentations in the Gerhard Ertl Young Investigator Award at the DPG Meeting of the Condensed Matter Section (SKM). The prize committee selected Wouter Jolie as the winner of Gerhard Ertl Young Investigator Award 2023 for his presentation titled “Imaging electrons in 1D: correlated states within MoS2 mirror twin boundaries”. The winner received a certificate plus the cash prize of EUR 3,000 while other finalists received certificates and EUR 500 as recognition of their efforts.
