Integrating CO₂ capture into energy research

Without negative emissions, climate neutrality will not be achievable. According to a national research team, Germany needs a strategic research agenda, better models, clear policy frameworks, and forward-looking CO₂ infrastructure planning to ensure that CO₂ removal technologies can be deployed effectively, affordably, and in a socially sustainable manner.

Bioinformatics

New Treatment Approaches for Aggressive Breast Cancer

The Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space is funding the “TriNova” research project to develop new therapies for triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). The three-year project will receive approximately 1.59 million euros and relies on artificial intelligence to develop innovative drugs against a particularly aggressive form of breast cancer.

Hydrogen

Hydrogen pathways for regions beyond the core network

Scientists at Forschungszentrum Jülich have outlined new approaches for supplying hydrogen to areas that will not be connected to Germany’s planned hydrogen core network by 2032. In a recent publication, they describe the use of chemical hydrogen carriers from which hydrogen is only released at the point of consumption.

Our 3 strategic research priorities

Information

The priority of information combines Jülich research in three areas: simulation and data science in high-performance-computing (HPC), brain research, and research on bio- and nanoelectronic information technologies of the future. Quantum technologies are another priority at Jülich.

Energy

Jülich energy research concentrates on an energy system based on renewable energy. Scientists research technologies on all scales – from the atomic level right up to industrial innovations – covering the entire value chain from basic to applied research.

Bioeconomy

The sustainable bioeconomy is a biobased circular economy that does away with fossil resources and utilizes renewable resources instead. Scientists from Forschungszentrum Jülich are developing new value creation processes.

As a founding member of the Helmholtz Association, we are part of the largest German research organization and contribute our top-class expertise to four of the six Helmholtz Research Fields: Energy, Matter, Information, and Earth & Environment.
