The lecture will be held in German.

What is presented?

Thousands of organic gases – “fragrances” – enter the atmosphere through human activities and natural sources. There, they trigger complex chemical reactions that significantly influence both air quality and climate. With the transition to cleaner energy sources and the response of ecosystems to increasing climate stress, these emissions are changing. Eva Pfannerstill highlights how we use our complex measurement technology on flying platforms – aircraft or zeppelins – as an effective tool for detecting these emissions, from cities to stressed forest areas.

Background:

Since October 1, 2024, Eva Pfannerstill has been establishing her Helmholtz Young Investigators Group at the Institute of Climate and Energy Systems (ICE-3). Since March 2025, she has also held a junior professorship at the University of Cologne.
