New Agrivoltaics System with Jülich Expertise in Operation in the Rhenish Mining Area

Plants on the bottom; solar energy at the top: after around a mere five month’s of construction work, RWE’s agrivoltaics (Agri-PV) system has fed green electricity into the grid for the first time. The demonstration plant was built on about seven hectares of recultivated land bordering the Garzweiler opencast mine near Bedburg. Over the next few years, important application research here will demonstrate that solar power and agriculture are compatible.
