Jun. Prof. Dr. Irene Vercellino

For Dr. Irene Vercellino, junior professor at Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf and group leader at Forschungszentrum Jülich, science is about combining ambitious ideas with the best possible infrastructure. At the Ernst Ruska-Centre - Structural Biology (ER-C-3) she leads a team studying the atomic structures of mitochondrial proteins at one of the world’s top cryoEM facilities.

In 2024 Jun. Prof. Dr. Irene Vercellino won the „For Women in Science Award” from L’Oréal. This achievement highlights not only her excellence in research, but also the importance of supporting women in STEM.
