Jülich's research infrastructure is unique in Europe – and a magnet for researchers from all over the world. In the field of quantum technologies, scientists find state-of-the-art research equipment in various infrastructures. We cover the entire production chain from hardware to software, apply quantum computing systems and make them available to a user community via JUNIQ, the Jülich UNified Infrastructure for Quantum computing.

JUNIQ

The ‘Jülich UNified Infrastructure for Quantum computing’, or JUNIQ for short, is unique. It provides science and industry with access to various quantum computers. These include experimental systems and prototypes from various national and European research projects, but also commercial instruments such as an quantum annealer from the manufacturer D-Wave and a quantum simulator from the start-up Pasqal. The range of services is constantly being expanded – both with computers that will be located in Jülich and with computers from partner institutions. In addition, JUNIQ supports users in developing algorithms and applications for quantum computing. JUNIQ is part of the large Jülich Future IT Infrastructure, which includes the supercomputers up to the exascale computer JUPITER.

Helmholtz Nano Facility (HNF)

At the HNF, scientists can research, produce, and characterise nano- and atomic structures for information technology. The cleanroom centre is closely linked to the Helmholtz Quantum Center.

Helmholtz Quantum Center

The planned new Helmholtz Quantum Center (HQC) will bring together many of the activities in the field of quantum computing that are currently taking place at the Peter Grünberg Institute. Basic research, theory and development will work together under one roof at the HQC.
